Preserving our unique deep water recreation opportunities for the community. Looking into alternate ideas of how the Dams benefit the community and the diverse ecosystem that is already in place with the Dams.
The cover photo is the mud flat left behind from the removal of the Carpentersville dam. Not enough water for boating or paddling. Lets not do this to the rest of the river.
This site looks at the benefits of the Dams currently on the Fox River.
Carpentersville Drained with Dam Removal - Pipes Exposed
Several of Our Save the Dam signs ended up missing. We are stunned to find out that the Friends of the Fox was responsible for some of this as shown by this video evidence.
The video shown here, shows Gary Swick, current Friends of the Fox River President, stealing a Save the Dam sign from a local business owner. A police report was filed and they paid him a visit to tell him stop stealing the signs and he would be fined if he continued. The question is, if Friends of the Fox feels like their position is so strong, why do they have to silence those who are peacefully and quietly opposing the dam removals? Why do Gary and Friends of the Fox think it’s ok to steal from others and silence them to further their agenda? This is not right and should not be tolerated. The president of this organization is acting in an incredibly irresponsible and unprofessional manner.
After the Fox River was drained with the dam removal in Carpentersville these pipes were exposoded. Now it is estimated it will cost Carpentersville taxpayers 4 million dollars to relocate these. When attending the meetings that the Army Crops held, it was noted they would be fixing these type of problems. Seems like the Army Crops aren't actally fixing the problems created by the dam removal.
Rip Rap Rocks were placed over the pipes to protect them. Thats now a place to bottom out and damage a boat.
